Nelson Mandela

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela born 18 July 1918-5 December 2013. He was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader and philanthropist. He served as President of South Africa from 1994-1999.

He served 27 years in prison, one of which was the infamous Robben Island. Whilst in prison Mandela kept himself fit and sane through exercise. “On Monday through Thursday, I would do stationary running in my cell in the morning for up to forty-five minutes. I would also perform one hundred fingertip push-ups, two hundred sit-ups, fifty deep knee-bends, and various other calisthenics.” If Mandela can run on the spot every day for 27 years, then three weeks should be a walk in the park, if they were open that is.
