Grandmother and Granddaughter

This double portrait was commisioned by Amaia and shows her mother and her neice smiling and drinking champagne. I was fascinated by the older woman’s skirt, trying to achieve the glint of taffeta against the deep black background.

Ash Wednesday

This triple portrait was commissioned by Anne of her and her parents returning from mass on an Ash Wednesday, you can see the mark of the ashes on each of their forehaeads. This ceremony happens in the Roman Catholic Church at the beginning of Lent. In the background you can see a picture of Irish rebel leader Patrick Pearse.
